There are hundreds of styles of massage/bodywork/stretching. You don’t need to know what they are; that’s our job. Just let us know what you want help with, and whether you are pregnant or have a health condition. Your therapist will help determine which type of massage is best for you, based on what you want to get out of your session. We customize each session for you.

This includes known recent exposure to infectious disease while traveling outside the country; please delay scheduling a session until after the incubation period has expired (this may be up to three weeks). If you have a skin infection or other diagnosed skin condition, you may need to delay getting a massage or remain clothed for your session. If in doubt, call us to ask. If you arrive for your appointment and our COVID-19 screening prevents you from entering the business, we will cancel your appointment at no charge and invite you to return in a few weeks.

24-HOUR CANCELLATION POLICY:

If your massage session starts before you violate these policies, your session will be ended early and you will be charged 100% of the session fee.

NEW CLIENTS: IMPORTANT
If this is your first visit to Eagan Massage Center, please arrive at least 15 minutes early to fill out confidential client intake forms. You will provide critical health information and have a chance to review it with your therapist so you get the most out of your massage. You’ll discuss the reason for your visit and your therapist will answer any questions you may have.

If possible, please fill out any new client health history paperwork prior to arrival. These forms must be completed prior to the start of your massage, and any time required to finish them is part of your scheduled appointment time. We can send them to you via email for printing and completion, or they can be filled out in your car prior to your appointment.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE: PROCEDURE
  • Entrance by appointment only; please arrive at least 10-15 minutes early.
  • Health screening prior to your appointment.
  • Masks are optional except for these therapists: Kelly Ann and Anne.
  • Sanitize your hands immediately upon entering; hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the facility. We also recommend washing your hands before and after your massage.
ARE MASKS REQUIRED?
Masks are preferred for these therapists: Kelly Ann and Anne

Massage therapists will wear a mask upon request.

COVID-19 / INFECTIOUS DISEASE SAFETY MEASURES: OVERVIEW
To promote safety and comfort, we have taken these steps for the benefit of our clients and staff:
  • Masks are now optional with most of our therapists unless otherwise specified in their profile.
  • Sanitize your hands immediately upon entering; a hand sanitizer station is located at the front desk. We also recommend washing your hands before and after your massage.
  • Massage therapists will wear a mask upon request.
  • Air purifiers in each room and in the lobby. These are highly efficient purifiers that have a True HEPA filter for viruses and allergens, carbon filter, and internal UV-C light to help make the air safer.
  • Special room cleaning and laundry handling between appointments, using EPA-approved disinfectants and following CDC guidelines.
Please understand this has taken a lot of thought and research to put together. Our employees are trained to follow the new protocols and policies without exceptions. We had stricter policies during the height of the pandemic.

We take the safety of you and our employees very seriously. We want to keep everyone as safe as possible, and we will continue to reduce risks for everyone. We are very happy that we have been able to relax some of the stricter policies that were in place when the pandemic was more severe.

NOTE:
For those who are immune compromised and those who are otherwise particularly susceptible to respiratory infections or blood clots, we recommend that you see our more experienced massage therapists and let them know about your condition(s) when you come in for a session. If you would like a recommendation, call us at 651-452-0246 and our receptionists will help you.

IF YOU HAVE LONG COVID:
There is ongoing research regarding safety and risk mitigation. Since each case may pose unique risks, please inform your massage therapist about your Long COVID status and all of the symptoms and other issues connected to it. In most cases, we can safely provide massage therapy, but there are some circumstances that require us to adjust how we work for your safety and better results.

Meet our therapists
Glossary of Terms
These are some words used to describe various methods that therapists on our staff are trained in. Aside from a few exceptions, most fall under the umbrella term of “massage”. Most massage sessions incorporate a variety of methods that may be combined in various ways to help you. Each therapist will use what they know to help you.

Therapists with different training may provide very different experiences, and some may be better equipped to address various types of pain or other medical issues. We will attempt to help you find the right therapist(s) to meet your needs.

NOTE: Many lengthy books have been written about each following term, so please understand that these definitions only give a very basic explanation. Ongoing disagreement about the scientific foundations of these explanations and new research are forcing many explanations to be updated. No matter how a massage therapist was trained, each can and should be tailored to you.
Active Isolated Stretching (AIS)
Therapeutic stretching that gently increases range of motion via an active protocol in which the therapist and client work together. AIS can be done fully clothed or as part of a massage session. This is often used as a form of graded motor exposure, and may be combined with resistance.
Assisted Stretching (STR)
Therapist-assisted stretching during a massage session. Assisted stretching may be passive or active, and may include nearly any style of stretching.
Connective Tissue (CT)
Generic term for massage techniques designed to focus on connective tissues rather than on muscles. These techniques do not require much pressure, but may feel deep and intense. (See “Fascial Release” for more detail.)
Cross-Fiber Friction (XF or XFF)
Often taught as a method of "releasing stuck tissues", it is actually a form of compression that moves back and forth over a designated area. Normally combined with therapeutic massage techniques, it can be gentle or very intense depending on the amount of pressure used.
Deep Tissue (DT)
A generic term for describing massage techniques that attempt to use direct pressure to affect tissues deeper than the skin. Applied pressure may vary from light to very intense depending on the type of technique used. There is no consensus on what constitutes "deep tissue massage", so it is more sensible to focus on what your goals are for each session, and not on whether it's a "deep" session.
Dermoneuromodulation (DNM)
Based on current pain science and neuroanatomy, this provides a conceptual model for gently working with the nervous system to resolve pain and dysfunction. This training is particularly helpful for understanding chronic pain, injuries, and long-term issues that have previously resisted treatment.
Fascial Release (MFR)
Fascia is connective tissue found throughout the body. Fascial release techniques usually involve gentle stretching of the skin and some deeper tissues to restore normal elasticity and function.
Focused Foot Massage
Based on modern science and western massage methods, in a Focused Foot Massage session, we work with your feet, ankles, and legs to improve how your feet feel and function.
Injury Care
Recent injuries and/or surgeries present special challenges for both client and massage therapist. Injury care may involve special accommodations and/or handling of the situation in order to best promote healing.
Joint Mobilization (JM)
Joint function and mobility may be negatively impacted by injuries, chronic irritation, and degenerative conditions. Joint mobilization techniques gently improve joint function while reducing pain, irritation, and swelling.
Lomi-lomi (LOMI)
Derived from traditional Hawaiian bodywork, this method emphasizes repetitive gliding and friction strokes, and is deeply relaxing.
Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD)
We offer Vodder-style MLD. This gentle method facilitates lymphatic flow and is particularly helpful for edema and some forms of lymphema. This is highly recommended for many health conditions and also for post-surgery when lymph nodes or vessels have been damaged or removed.
MUSCLE ENERGY TECHNIQUE (MET)
A method that uses contraction and relaxation of targeted tissues to reduce pain, increase ROM and strength, and restore function to areas impaired by scar tissue within the muscles.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE (MFR)
See “Fascial Release”.
Cranialsacral (CST)
A gentle method of calming the nervous system through slow, light work, holding/supporting the head, neck, and/or pelvis.
Esalen®
A form of Swedish-based relaxation massage known for its long, flowing, connective strokes, originally associated with the Esalen School of Massage in California.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE (MFR)
See “Fascial Release”.
Neuromuscular Therapy™ (NMT)
A science-based approach combining clinical assessment, Muscle Energy Technique (see “Assisted Stretching”), Positional Release, and Trigger Point. It is excellent for many painful conditions.
Orthobionomy (OrthoBi)
A method of using positioning and gentle passive movements to relax the nervous system and tight muscles. This is one specific form of Positional Release Technique (see entry).
Orthopedic Massage (ORTHO)
A science-based approach to integrating multiple types of massage techniques to achieve a therapeutic goal. This clinical approach uses orthopedic assessment and focuses on efficient treatment of specific conditions.
Personal Training
Certified personal trainers have an in-depth understanding of movement and exercise. This provides insight into appropriate stretching and exercise protocols.
Positional Release Technique (PRT)
A generic term for bodywork methods that use body positioning to effect spontaneous release of tight muscles and connective tissue. Primarily used for muscles in chronic spasm due to injury, overuse, and poor posture.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy, Labor, and Post-Partum all present special challenges for bodywork. For client safety, special positioning and massage protocols are used to maximize healing benefits during pregnancy and post-partum recovery.
PNF Stretching (PNF)
(proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) Originally developed for rehabilitation following spinal cord injury, in massage sessions this method uses contraction and relaxation of targeted tissues to reduce pain, increase ROM and strength, and restore function to areas impaired by scar tissue within the muscles.
Pre/Post Natal
See “Pregnancy Massage.”
Pressure Point (PP)
Based on oriental medicine concepts, pressure point techniques use direct pressure to stimulate changes in the body.
Reflexology
Based on oriental medicine concepts, reflexology is an ancient art of working on the feet (or hands), often resulting in deep relaxation.
Seated Chair (CHAIR)
A special chair is used so clients may sit upright during their massage. No lubrication is needed; the therapist works through the client’s clothing. Sessions vary from 5 minutes to an hour; it’s a great quick pick-me-up!
Sports Massage (SPORTS)
Athletic activities place unusual stresses on the body. Specialized bodywork methods and protocols may be used pre-event and post-event to stimulate improved performance and recovery.
Strain Counterstrain (SCS)
This method uses body positioning to calm the nervous system and release muscle tension in specific areas. It is a specific type of Positional Release Technique (see entry).
Swedish
This classic style is best known for massage strokes that promote deep relaxation and improve circulation. It also has a variety of other techniques with profound therapeutic benefits, and can be quite energizing. Common strokes are divided into several categories: Gliding/Effleurage (EFF), Kneading/Petrissage (PET), Percussive/Tapotement (TAP), Compressive (COM), Traction (TRA), Friction- Linear or Circular (LinFric/CirFric), and Rocking/Vibratory (VIB).
Thai Yoga Bodywork
This traditional method incorporates rhythmic, gentle movements, compressions, and stretches while you relax on a welcoming, padded floor mat. Wear comfortable clothing that permits easy movement; athletic wear is recommended.
Trigger Point (TP or TrPt)
This medical-based approach identifies points of tissue irritation that may produce local or distant discomfort when stimulated, then uses direct finger pressure and other methods to resolve them. This approach is widely used in clinical work, and can be effective for many types of painful conditions.
Yoga
An ancient health discipline from India, yoga trains the body to be supple, strong, and balanced, freeing the mind and spirit to expand and develop focus. An excellent form of mindful exercise, yoga practice may complement bodywork.

“Judy saw me today and helped me more than I ever thought possible! I was riddled so full of tension and anxiety due to some recent medical complications that the stress was making my muscles tight and spamming and I couldn't calm down. After 1 hour of her working with me tonight I am more calm, relaxed and comfortable than I have been in weeks. There aren't enough words to express my gratitude. THANK YOU JUDY! You are a treasure!”
