On happiness and when you don't feel happy

Sometimes people find it difficult to feel happy. There are times it may feel impossible. And that's okay, because very few people are happy all of the time. We are gifted with the ability to experience a wide range of emotions. Feelings of sadness, anger, frustration, grief, stress, etc. are normal parts of how we feel and experience life's roller coasters. If you don't feel happy all of the time, allow yourself to really experience your true feelings, and talk to others (friends, family, counselors, etc.) about them so you have support to help you if needed.

When it feels difficult to find things to be happy about, it can help to focus on little things that help make life more pleasant. A massage can be one of those things, but there are many other great things you might think about to find bright spots even when things seem dark.

This lovely list compiled by a grandmother is full of wise suggestions from her personal list, and you might find yourself agreeing with some of them. Which ones do you relate to? Are there other simple things that also bring you moments of pleasure or happiness? What would you add to this list?

Though research shows that massage therapy can help, we encourage people with symptoms of depression and anxiety to connect with mental health professionals for additional guidance, and we'll do our best to complement the care they provide for you.

If you or someone you know are considering self-harm, please call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or go to https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ for more information.

We hope the list above helps inspire you to think about things that make you happy, and perhaps to start your own list. We will continue to provide excellent service and great massages to help you manage stresses and feel better. At Eagan Massage Center, you are not alone.
