Are you following the 2024 Olympics? This year, there are 30 athletes with Minnesota connections competing in many different events, including Suniya Lee of St. Paul, who was the womens' all-around gymnastics champion at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Swimmer Regan Smith of Lakeville and distance runner Dakotah Lindwurm of St. Francis are some of the other athletes on the list. 

It's inspiring to see people coming together to compete respectfully and remain on good terms regardless of the outcomes.

Starting this Thursday, co-owner and therapist Jason will be working with the elite runners and wheelchair athletes before and after their participation in Grandma's Marathon and the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon. He has done this every year since 2010, with the exception of 2020. DID YOU KNOW?  - You can use Minnesota Corn Bags and/or Mother Earth Flax Pillows as HOT or COLD packs? 

• COLD: Wrap one or two in a snug plastic bag or cover to keep in your freezer, ready for immediate use. This is great for sore spots, migraines, injuries, or to just cool down when you feel a bit too hot for comfort. 
• HOT: Keep others handy to warm up in your microwave when you feel cold or just want some comforting heat to help you relax and feel better. Each bag comes with instructions for warming. 
• NOTE: Don't take one out of your freezer and immediately heat it in your microwave. Let it return to room temperature first.

Please join us in welcoming receptionists Katelyn and Shannon. Katelyn has been doing a great job since she started with us. Shannon is the newest member of our team and we are very lucky to have her. 

Eagan Massage Center is a safe, inclusive place. We work with many people that have experienced a wide range of traumas that continue to impact their lives. Our massage therapist Kathy received some training in visceral manipulation, gentle massage techniques that are sometimes recommended for abdominal pain, constipation, cramps, indigestion, and other issues. These techniques can be blended into nearly any massage therapy session, and can be very relaxing. She also attended training on how to address some of the unique needs of LGBTQIA+ people.  

Massage therapist Anne completed some training in providing injury care in the wilderness. Learning to assess and address fresh injuries helps massage therapists understand how they might be more effective at helping people who have experienced these injuries both recently and in the past. 

We have several massage therapists that are multilingual - Kameelah, Keiko, and Lana. In addition to English, we have massage therapists that can communicate in American Sign Language (ASL), Japanese, and Russian. Please see our massage therapist descriptions for more information. 

Massage therapist Jason will be teaching seminars for massage therapists and other health care providers across the country this summer and fall. His most popular classes focus on the treatment of pain using gentle methods and an understanding of pain neurobiology. He enjoys helping people with pain feel better!

Eagan Massage Center upholds high standards in massage therapy, customer service, and ethical business conduct. Part of this involves facilitating continuing education for our current massage therapists and supporting excellent entry-level preparation for new massage therapists, particularly at local massage therapy training programs.

On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, EMC co-owner Kelly Thompson spoke at length with massage therapy students at the Minnesota School of Cosmetology (MSC) in Woodbury. She shared many of her experiences before and after becoming a massage therapist, and talked about the various challenges of having a solo practice vs a practice with multiple massage therapists. 

The MSC students were impressed with her professionalism and how clearly she presented information about education, interviewing, managing a practice, and EMC. Kelly did a great job answering their questions, and some of them indicated a strong interest in applying to work at EMC when they complete their training. 

All of our skillful, knowledgeable massage therapists do their best to help you feel comfortable, enjoy your massage, and feel like you've learned something useful. Since summer of 2020, Eagan Massage Center has maintained high safety standards so that everyone can feel safe and comfortable during their massages. Our safety measures include

• mandatory masks for everyone (free masks provided for anyone who wants one),
• hand sanitizer,
• safety shields,
• face shields/eye goggles and
• smocks for our therapists,
• air purifiers with specialized filters throughout the facility,
• social distancing with limited numbers of people permitted in the lobby at any time,
• screening procedures, etc..

Many people have thanked us for maintaining strict safety measures, and we are prepared to keep them in place until further notice.

Judy Dunlevy has been a fixture at Eagan Massage Center since 2004. As a massage therapist, she has helped thousands of people relax, manage medical conditions, and recover from injuries, surgeries, etc.. She has welcomed new staff members with her warm smile, easygoing nature, and helpfulness. Respected and appreciated by all, Judy helped make Eagan Massage Center what it is today through her skillful work, positive demeanor, and boundless respect for others. 

In July 2021, Judy announced her retirement so she can spend more time with her spouse and family. Though she is missed already, she has left many fond memories to remember her by.

REQUIRED:
· You must be able to pass a criminal background check.
· You must be able to give a good full body massage with appropriate draping, conduct an intake/assessment, and use the information you acquire in your clinical reasoning to address a specific complaint.
· Before you can be hired, you must graduate from a massage therapy school that provides no less than 500 hours of formal and supervised training, including both classroom and clinical elements. Most of our massage therapists have well over 700 hours of formal training before they apply.

OPTIONAL:
· We strongly support continuing education, especially in subjects that are more scientifically oriented. If you have certifications in specialized work like MLD, AIS, orthopedic work, etc., that will help.
· You don't need to have a ton of prior massage therapy experience. We hire new grads as well as experienced pros.
· If you have prior experience in massage therapy or some other career, we can help you understand how that might be useful in your work as a massage therapist. A desire to learn and improve on what you already know is recommended.
